In honor of Veterans Day, Sitka Gear just released its 20-minute film “Place of Peace,” telling the powerful story of U.S. Army Master Sgt. Farmer who faced having to rebuild his life after spending 20 years on the front lines. This American hero was left with multiple gunshot and shrapnel wounds across his body, and he reached a breaking point. And then he rediscovered a gift from a friend that led him down an unexpected path to healing and peace of mind through hunting.
As noted by a Sitka rep involved in promoting the film, the healing power of hunting can work wonders in one’s life as presence of mind is difficult to maintain. In an official comment from Sitka, the company explains: “It takes diligence to live in the moment. In the wild, stripped down to one's essentials, we become more mindful. Through this connection with nature, we can better understand ourselves, the world and our place within it.”
